The OneFamily Group, which includes life and critical illness provider Beagle Street, is continuing its commitment to supporting colleagues’ wellbeing by hosting its second Menopause Café this October, building on the success of its inaugural event in 2025.
Taking place as part of World Menopause Awareness Month in October, the event will be held on Tuesday October 20th at OneFamily’s Brighton office and will provide employees with a welcoming, respectful and confidential space to discuss menopause openly.
Employees of all ages and genders are encouraged to attend, whether to share their experiences, listen to others, learn more about perimenopause and menopause, or gain a better understanding of how they can support friends, family members, and colleagues.
The Menopause Café is part of OneFamily’s Wellbeing Champions programme, which promotes initiatives designed to support colleagues’ health and wellbeing while helping to create a more inclusive workplace culture. As part of its wider commitment to employee wellbeing, OneFamily has introduced a menopause policy, enhanced parental leave arrangements and continues to support flexible and hybrid working practices.
Around 13 million people in the UK are currently peri-menopausal or menopausal, equivalent to approximately one-third of the UK’s female population. Menopause can bring a wide range of physical and psychological symptoms that can affect daily life, relationships and work. Each experience is different and symptoms can change throughout this period.
Research conducted by OneFamily amongst 4,000 UK adults found that 40% said the menopause has affected the day-to-day life of either themselves or a loved one through physical or psychological issues. Among those affected, more than half (51%) said this impact lasted for longer than two years. Whilst symptoms can be far reaching, the research revealed that hot flushes 49% , night sweats 44% and brain fog 43% were the most common symptoms women experienced.
Further research also highlighted that 77% report finding at least one symptom very difficult to manage.
Lindsay Taylor-King, People Director at OneFamily, commented: “Following the success of our first Menopause Café last year, we are delighted to bring the event back for 2026. The conversations that were sparked last year demonstrated just how valuable it is to create safe spaces where colleagues can talk openly, share experiences and learn from one another.
“With around 13 million people in the UK currently peri-menopausal or menopausal, and our own research showing that 40% of UK adults have seen menopause affect the day-to-day life of themselves or a loved one, it is clear that menopause touches many lives. The fact that over half of those affected say the impact lasted for more than two years demonstrates why ongoing support and understanding are so important.
“At OneFamily, we are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where colleagues feel comfortable having these conversations and accessing support when they need it. Through initiatives such as our Menopause Café, we hope to continue breaking down stigma, increasing awareness and ensuring everyone feels supported, whether they are experiencing menopause themselves or supporting someone who is.”
