Wipro names Vinay Firake as new APMEA Chief Executive

Wipro Limited, a global technology services and consulting leader, announced today the appointment of Vinay Firake as Chief Executive Officer for its Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) Strategic Market Unit, effective immediately.

Firake, a 26-year veteran of Wipro, will take over the regional leadership role based in Dubai and report directly to Srini Pallia, CEO and Managing Director of Wipro. He will also join the company’s executive board.

The Indian national most recently served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Wipro’s Nordics business operations based in Stockholm, where he oversaw all industry sectors and services across the region. Prior to that, Firake held several other senior roles at Wipro spanning Europe, North America and India.

“Vinay has successfully led Wipro’s business across diverse global markets and is ideally suited for this strategic growth role in APMEA,” said Pallia. “With his experience winning major clients and driving innovation, I am confident he will provide strong leadership for one of our most promising markets.”

Firake succeeds Anis Chenchah, who is departing Wipro on May 31 after a two-year tenure leading the APMEA unit. Pallia thanked Chenchah for “making significant inroads” in the region.

An MBA graduate from a top Indian university, Firake also holds a computer engineering degree and has completed executive leadership programs at Wharton and Harvard Business School.

“I’m honored to take on this pivotal role driving Wipro’s growth across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa,” said Firake. “I look forward to partnering with our talented team to expand our capabilities and solutions in this dynamic market.”
