Kenvue India’s HR Head shares secrets to engaged workforce

Effective communication has a major role in organisational success. Making employees aware of their work creates impact and contributes to the larger success of the organisation. It makes them feel more engaged, says Shipra Saraf, HR Head at Kenvue India.

She makes it a priority to help employees understand how their roles contribute to the broader success of the organisation. “By clearly connecting their work to our overall goals, we not only enhance engagement but also foster a strong sense of purpose and drive collective success,” she says.

To assess the effectiveness of their engagement strategy, Kenvue follows a two-pronged approach which includes regular/quarterly and annual surveys. “It provides both qualitative and quantitative feedback to help us gauge employee sentiment and employee experience better,’ says Shipra who believes that nothing can replace the power of real conversations. “Our leadership team, including myself regularly engages with our employees in India in small cohorts for informal conversations to further understand their feedback and expectations which help us further streamline our approach.”

Tech-enabled employee engagement and experience initiatives

As a digital-first company, Kenvue is always looking at integrating new technologies across the business including employee engagement activities.

Highlighting the instrumental role of technology in enhancing the experience and creating a strong sense of belonging, Shipra emphasises using online resources and the intranet to strengthen internal communications to share best practices, showcase campaigns, region-specific employee engagement activities, as well as team and individual success with the employees across the world.

Long-term strategic goals and market trends

At Kenvue, highlights Shipra that HR strategy is fully aligned with the organisational priorities. “Within this, employee engagement is a critical aspect of the overall business strategy which is designed to keep the unique needs of our teams as well as the life stage of the company.”

She acknowledges that nurturing a strong sense of belonging amongst teams where employees feel proud and find meaning in the impact, they create every day working is important. “While employee engagement and experience are important for any organisation, the role of employee engagement cannot be emphasised enough especially when building a new company.”

In this journey, the Kenvue Way is the foundation, mentions Shipra. “Led by Kenvue leaders along with the HR function, the execution of Kenvue Way has played a critical role in imbibing company’s vision, purpose, and values and for every Kenvuer to feel connected and engaged,” she states.
