How India’s real estate boom is shaping future careers

 The Indian real estate industry, already the second-largest employer after agriculture, is poised to become an even more significant source of jobs, according to industry experts. The sector’s rapid growth, fueled by an 18.7% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), offers a wealth of career opportunities for aspiring professionals.

“The real estate industry is a dynamic sector with a vast value chain, encompassing developers, contractors, consultants, investors, and more,” said Vikas Jain, President-Elect of NAREDCO Maharashtra Next-Gen and CEO of Labdhi Lifestyle. 

“With the rise of PropTech startups and the integration of technology, there’s a growing demand for skilled professionals across various fields.” 

Rajesh Doshi, Secretary of NAREDCO Maharashtra, highlighted the sector’s appeal to individuals from diverse backgrounds. “Real estate is not just for engineers or architects,” he stated.

“It’s for smart, driven individuals who can spot opportunities. With the increasing role of technology, there’s a need for professionals like data scientists to analyse industry trends. Honesty, transparency, and ethical business practices are essential for long-term success.”

The seminar, “Careers in The Real Estate,” organised by NAREDCO Maharashtra, explored various career paths within the industry.

Vaibhav Agarwal, an expert in financial services and real estate, highlighted the importance of finance in the sector, emphasising opportunities in investment banking, private equity, REITs, and corporate finance.

He also noted the industry’s shortage of skilled professionals, ensuring a promising job market.

Kamlesh Thakur, Vice President of NAREDCO Maharashtra, emphasised the sector’s role in India’s development. “A growing country needs modern infrastructure, and the real estate industry plays a crucial part in achieving that,” he said.

“With the advancements in artificial intelligence and data science, the sector offers exciting career prospects.”

Hitesh Bhagtani, Treasurer of NAREDCO Maharashtra, encouraged young professionals to join the industry with their unique skills and perspectives. Dr. Vaishali Rajput, Director of Smt. Durgadevi Sharma Charitable Trust Skill Development Centre stressed the importance of specialisation in addition to a degree.

The seminar was attended by students from various institutions, providing them with valuable insights into the real estate industry and its career opportunities.
