Impact of AI – 1 in 5 JobSeekers Believe Tech Will Increase Bias in Job Applications

Leading Recruitment and Employment Technology Company, CareerWallet, which processes up to 10 million jobs daily from recruitment companies and employers globally, has recently published a Workplace Survey – The Impact of AI, revealing detailed trends and insights into how this advanced tech is changing the international recruitment market and job-seeking process.
The survey results reveal growing concern among job seekers about the increasing role of AI in recruitment. More than a quarter (27%) feel that AI tools are stripping away the human element from the hiring process, making it more impersonal and less empathetic.
Furthermore, 1 in 5 (20%) believe that these advanced technologies are introducing new forms of bias, potentially disadvantaging certain groups of candidates and making the job application process less fair. Adding to these concerns, half of all job seekers reported an alarming rise in fake job advertisements since AI became more prevalent in the industry, making it harder for genuine applicants to distinguish legitimate opportunities from fraudulent postings.
Millions of workers are also apprehensive about the broader implications of AI, with nearly a fifth (19%) fearing that their current roles could be at risk of being replaced by AI-driven systems and processes. This sense of unease highlights the need for greater transparency and trust in how AI is applied within recruitment.
“At CareerWallet, we recognise the growing concerns about the impact of AI on recruitment practices, particularly the rise in fake job ads,” said Craig Bines, CEO of the CareerWallet Group. “To address these challenges, we have recently implemented new technology designed to detect and eliminate fraudulent job postings more effectively. We aim to ensure a safe and transparent job-seeking experience for all, reinforcing trust in the recruitment process while leveraging the benefits of AI responsibly.”
