Women over 45 are nearly twice as likely to experience sexist behaviour in the workplace

The leading Recruitment and Employment Technology Company, CareerWallet has recently published an extensive workplace survey to give a true overview of working life in the UK and how the jobs market is being impacted by economic factors including the cost of living.   

The report has highlighted that female workers over 45 are nearly twice as likely to experience sexist behaviour in the workplace compared to their younger counterparts with a staggering 12% admitting to being impacted by this behaviour at work. The survey also showed that a further 5% of women have also experienced sexual harassment in the workplace.

Other results also showed that nearly a third (30%) of those over 45 also experience bullying in the workplace which shows a concerning trend for employees in the workplace. Other disturbing behaviours this age group have experienced included inappropriate comments (21%) and offensive comments (18%). 

The survey results should concern employers across the UK as it highlights that many women over 45 have to work in extremely toxic workplaces.
