Euros 2024: Millennials are most likely to pull a sickie if England reach Euros final, with 1 in 10 Brits confirming they’ll skip work, new survey reveals

With England set to face Denmark in their second group stage match tonight (June 20th), football fans across the nation are hoping the team might reach their Euros final in a row.

And a new survey has revealed just how many UK-based England fans might look to take whatever lengths they need to make sure they’re about to tune into what could be one of the national team’s biggest games ever.

A new survey conducted by Censuswide on behalf of industry data platform Stocklytics reveals millennials are most likely to pull a sickie, with 21% of 25-34 year olds confirming they’ll plan on calling into work sick if England do indeed make the Euros final.

A further 16% from the same age group responded they were ‘not sure’, and would consider doing so, compared to just 1% of over 55s revealing they would skip a day of work for an England Euros final.

Meanwhile, 16% of those aged 16-24 also answered yes, alongside 15% in the 35-44 age group, and 5% of those aged 45-54.

Elsewhere, 1 in 10 Brits overall from a sample group of 2,000 participants confirmed they would skip work for a Euros final with England in it.

This figure goes up to 14% amongst men, compared to just 5% of female respondents confirming they would call in sick for the occasion.

A further 11% of male, and 5% of female respondents confirmed they would consider it, meaning 25% of UK male England fans might end up calling in sick if Gareth Southgate’s men make it to the Euros final next month.

Some more savvy Brits plan on using annual leave if the occasion arises (5% of respondents), while a further 20% of UK respondents confirmed they don’t support the England team.
