Are You In The List 2024 Winner: Vednanshi Tulshyan on making HR people-driven

Vedanshi Tulshyan | Manager – HR Business Partner  | LEAD Group

Vedanshi Tulshyan isn’t the one to take the easy way out. “My approach to life and work is guided by integrity. It’s not always the easiest path, but it ensures that I make decisions that align with my values,” Vedanshi says. Currently serving as Manager – HR Business Partner at LEAD Group, she embodies a profound commitment to integrity in both her personal life and professional career. With a steadfast belief in ethical decision-making, she navigates the complexities of HR, focusing on nurturing relationships and driving meaningful change within organisations.

Building a career in HR

Vedanshi’s journey into HR was a fortunate coincidence, driven by her fascination with organisational behaviour and diversity and inclusion during her academic years. “HR is something that I stumbled upon. I liked the subjects during my graduation and took a chance. Looking back, I couldn’t have made a better decision,” she remarks. Looking back at the developments of 2024, Vedanshi highlights a pivotal insight into contemporary workforce dynamics. “Today’s employees seek alignment with organisational purpose. Connecting their work to broader impact motivates them to excel,” she observes.

In envisioning the future of HR for 2025, Vedanshi advocates for equilibrium between business objectives and employee welfare. “Maintaining the right balance between business and people is crucial. Overemphasising one at the cost of the other can be detrimental,” she asserts.

Paving the way for HR transformation at LEAD Group

At LEAD Group, Vedanshi has played a pivotal role in transforming HR from a transactional function to a strategic partner deeply integrated into the organisation’s fabric. “When I joined, HR interactions were predominantly transactional. I focused on building long-term relationships across all levels, fostering a culture of openness and feedback,” Vedanshi explains. Her initiatives include restructuring performance appraisals to include values alongside key result areas and reinforcing a culture aligned with organisational ethos and employee development. “We’ve created platforms for candid feedback, demonstrating our commitment to listening and acting upon employee insights,” she adds.

Identifying the foremost challenge facing HR today, Vedanshi underscores the struggle for HR leaders to assert themselves as strategic partners within their organisations. Her approach at LEAD Group involves immersing herself in business intricacies to present HR initiatives as integral to business success. “Understanding the business inside out allows me to propose initiatives that resonate beyond HR—they contribute tangibly to business goals,” she states.
