DBS and UKG bet on women to lead their future

This week marks a significant milestone for two major corporations with the appointment of women as their new CEOs. 

Tan Su Shan, a seasoned banking veteran, has been named CEO of DBS, becoming the first woman to helm the Singaporean financial giant. Her appointment marks a historic moment for the bank.

Concurrently, UKG, a global leader in HR technology, has tapped Jennifer Morgan as its new CEO. Morgan, a seasoned tech executive, brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Tan brings over 35 years of experience in banking, including roles in consumer banking, wealth management, and institutional banking. Morgan, with more than 30 years in the enterprise software industry, was previously co-CEO of SAP.

Piyush Gupta to step down in March 2025

DBS Bank has announced the appointment of Tan Su Shan as its Deputy CEO, with plans for her to succeed Piyush Gupta as CEO in March 2025. With a career spanning over 35 years in consumer banking, wealth management, and institutional banking, Tan Su Shan will become the first woman to lead DBS.

Tan’s tenure at DBS began in 2010, where she played a crucial role in establishing the Wealth Management division and advancing the bank’s digital transformation strategy. Her previous experience includes key positions in major financial centres such as Hong Kong, Tokyo, and London, adding significant global insight to her new role. Her career includes influential roles at leading financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley and Citi.

Jennifer Morgan to succeed Chris Todd

UKG has announced Jennifer Morgan as its new CEO, succeeding Chris Todd. Morgan, renowned for her previous role as Co-CEO of SAP, brings extensive experience in enterprise software and strategic growth initiatives. Her appointment comes as UKG seeks to drive further innovation and expansion in the HR technology sector, as per the company statement.

Morgan’s prior roles include serving as Global Head of Portfolio Operations at Blackstone and a member of the UKG Board of Directors. Her leadership at SAP and Blackstone underscores her capability to lead UKG through its next phase of development and growth.
