Is India becoming the world’s new talent hub?

According to new data from the global hiring platform Indeed, India has seen a 60% increase in job searches from abroad between 2021 and 2024. The surge is primarily driven by interest from the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

“India is increasingly seen as a land of opportunity for professionals,” said Rohan Sylvester, Talent Strategy Advisor at Indeed India. “This surge in interest from abroad underscores the confidence in India’s growth and its potential to lead in key industries.”

The report highlights India’s growing appeal in technology, engineering, and digital services. Job searches from the US, UAE, and UK to India have increased by 13%, 12%, and 7% respectively over the three years.

Simultaneously, outbound job searches from India have declined by 17%, indicating a shift in priorities among Indian job seekers towards local opportunities.

Blue-collar workers are adapting to changing market demands, with a notable increase in searches for driver positions. From 2021 to 2024, outbound searches for driver jobs from India accounted for 16%, while inbound searches for the same role stood at 47%.

“Indian workers are increasingly choosing to build their careers at home, showing faith in the domestic job market,” Sylvester added.

The report also notes that blue-collar workers are upskilling and transitioning into roles that combine traditional skills with new technologies as industries evolve.
