Salesforce to cut 300 jobs in the second round of layoff in 2024

After cutting 700 jobs earlier this year, Salesforce Inc. plans to slash another 300 jobs this month. According to the media report, the latest job cut is aimed at streamlining operations.

In a statement, the company confirmed that it had pared some jobs, without getting specific. San Francisco-based Salesforce pared roughly 10% of its total workforce at the start of 2023. They also closed some offices. The company increased its workforce by over 50 percent during the pandemic. 

The CEO of Salesforce Marc Benioff in a letter to employees in February 2023 revealed that the company reduced its headcount because the [economic] environment is challenging.

Salesforce has been investing in AI innovation. It announced new AI Innovations to help sellers turn sales calls into closing calls in June. They expanded capabilities to make sales calls more productive: Einstein Conversation Insights with Sales Signals and new Einstein Copilot actions for Sales Cloud. These innovations use AI, grounded in CRM context, to transform how sellers prepare for, conduct, and follow up on customer and prospects calls – saving them time while helping to increase close rates.
